Annotated Bibliography: Constitutional Democracy

According to dictionary.com Constitutional Democracy is a “system of government based on popular sovereignty in which the strategies, powers, and limits of government are set forth in a constitution” (dictionary.com). Schoolmattaz wrote that the definition of a Constitutional Democracy is a “system of government in which there are clear limits of political authorities and the electorate has the power to remove poor performing government” (Schoolmattaz). Livescience wrote that a Constitutional Democracy is “a form of government in which the sovereign power of the people is spelled out in a governing constitution” (Remy). Another source, Proconservative wrote that a Constitutional Democracy is “the power of government is defined, limited, and distributed by a body of fundamental law called ‘the constitution’” (Proconservative). The last source, Civiced defined a Constitutional Democracy by “the authority of the majority is limited by legal and institutional means so that the rights of individuals and minorities are respected" (Civiced).

All of the sources were slightly different when compared to another. When looked at, the definitions from the five different sources say the same thing. However, the definition from the source Proconservative is a little more slanted than the others. The name of the website is a very clear reason why this source would be a little more biased than the rest of the sources. The source that would have the most reliable, valid definition would be from dictionary.com.

The five different sources differ because the source might be biased, or have a different point of view on the matter compared to other resources. Like stated above, one of my sources Proconservative leans more to the conservative side of the spectrum rather than the more democratic or liberal side.
